Nicaragua provides beaches, colonial character, nightlife, history and natural beauty to all visitors. Aurora Beachfront Real Estate Nicaragua has provided basic information on the most popular tourist attractions in Nicaragua. Please contact us for more information or help with hotel booking.

Managua

Managua is the capital city of Nicaragua and has a population of around 1.7 million. The city is located at the southwestern shore of the Lake of Managua. Managua has been rated the safest capital in Central America in surveys by INTERPOL, and the United Nations.

San Juan del Sur

San Juan del Sur is the epicenter of beach tourism and foreign real estate investment in Nicaragua. The town itself is located on a large horseshoe bay along the southern portion of the pacific coast of Nicaragua. The bay provides a natural harbor and is home to fishing boats, sail boats and private yachts.

Granada

Granada was founded on the shores of Lake Nicaragua (Lake Cocibolca) by Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba in 1524. This makes Granada, Nicaragua one of the oldest settlements in Central America. During the colonial period Granada became one of the most important harbors in Central America.

Leon

The original city of Leon was founded by Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba in 1524, 20 miles east of present-day Leon. An eruption of Volcano Momotombo in 1610 caused serious damage to the city and it’s inhabitants decided to move the city to its current location. Leon was founded near the indigenous settlement of Sutiava.

Ometepe Island

Ometepe, which sits in the middle of the Lake of Nicaragua is the largest lake island in the world. Ometepe gets its name from the Nahuatl words: Ome, which signifies two and Tepetl or mountains, meaning two mountains.

Tola

Tola refers to a region of the Pacific coast of Nicaragua north of San Juan del Sur. The region starts with Brito beach and goes all the way to the turtle reserve at Chacocente. Tola is home to some of the best surf beaches in all of Nicaragua. This stretch of Nicaraguan pacific coast is famous for it’s great surf.
