he surfers come first and then the Mainstream follows
- April 2007
As mentioned in this month's edition of Continental In-flight magazine, when it comes to real estate investments in Central America "the surfers come first and then the mainstream follows". As recognized by the article, surfers are moving into typically unexpected areas and Nicaragua, with an almost year round offshore wind, has quickly headed the top of surf tourists travel lists. As the center for beachgoing tourism in Nicaragua, San Juan del Sur has become an important part of all tourist related development in the wake of a country arriving to find a growing global tourism market.
San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua is far different from any other destination on Central America's Pacific coast. It is a town with history, culture and cuisine all worth getting to know.
Founded in the 1800's through adventure seekers looking to transfer gold from California to European markets in the east, San Juan has a unique feel different than that of other tourist hubs in Central America.
With access to over 25 beaches, San Juan del Sur offers lots of ways to enjoy the sun and surf.
Over the span of a decade tourism has almost tripled for this small fishing village on the sea. The offshore wind created year round from Lake Nicaragua, the 10th largest lake in the world, makes for great waves nearly all the time, this coupled with nearly 300 days of sunshine per year has made Nicaragua a global beach and surf destination.
One thing is certain, San Juan is geographically poised for being the epi-center of all the beaches in Nicaragua's south Pacific. It has much to offer as it promises to bring responsible development to its surroundings coasts.
Below you can find a few samples of new properties being offered on Nicaragua's souther pacific coast.
