Recently the mayor of San Juan del Sur, Eduardo Hollmann, broke ground on a new tourist boulevard being constructed along the beachfront road in the southwest portion of town.

The old 'Calle Principal" or Main Street, will be replaced with a new boulevard providing ample space for pedestrian and car traffic, giving shade to the foot traffic and creating parking spaces along the boulevard.

The mayor of San Juan del Sur recently completed a total facelift of the central park in front of the town's church, installing new benches, lampposts, stairs, trees and a playground.

The biggest news for many tourists & residents alike is the completion of the first supermarket near the entrance to town. Pali, a major supermarket chain throughout Central America, completed their San Juan del Sur branch and opened their doors on Christmas. This represents a major improvement to infrastructure in San Juan del Sur.

A new beachfront condominium project has been announced within the Hacienda Iguana development in Tola.
